Newsmap

While surfin the net came across this tool.
Newsmap is an application that visually reflects the constantly changing landscape of the Google News news aggregator...

The application is very neat. While fiddling with that I couldn't resist noticing one thing. The default view selects all the categories of news (Nation, World, business, sports etc.), news in the categories are horisontally ordered. The height of this horizontal row indicates the relative importance of this category among the news sites.

Understandably in the US screen the world news row is shorter than the National and Sports news (did they ever cared about the "Rest of the world"?).
But for in the India screen, the world news occupies a major chunk of the total height and I had to strain my eyes to even see that row and couldn't read what is in the National news row (see pic).

Do we care more about the world than ourselves?
